Our leathers are selected by experts from the finest Italian tanneries, and they deserve care to match.
Smooth & Grained Leathers
Our smooth and grained leathers benefit from regular care. Clean them with a soft, damp cloth. Once the leather is dry, polish it in small circles with colorless wax and a soft cloth.
Keep the leather away from direct sunlight and humidity.
Vegetable-Tanned Leathers
Vegetable tanning produces a leather of higher quality, with natural protection against aging. Because it is not artificially treated, the leather oxidizes naturally, and its color will change visibly over time.
Care for it as you would smooth and grained leathers: a soft, damp cloth, then colorless wax.
Suede
Suede is more delicate. Water and rain can cause fading or staining; if your suede gets wet, let it dry completely before cleaning.
To keep its velvety texture, brush the surface gently with a soft brush.
Satin
Satin requires careful handling. Avoid contact with water, oils, cosmetics and alcohol-based products, which can stain or mark it, and with rough or dark materials, which can cause abrasion or color transfer. Don't overfill the bag, as this can distort the fabric.
Remove light dust with a soft, dry cloth. Please don't spot-clean stains with water; we recommend professional cleaning by a specialist experienced with delicate fabrics.
When not in use, store it in its dust bag, away from direct sunlight and humidity.
Canvas
Canvas is durable, but benefits from mindful care. Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading, and away from excess moisture. If it gets wet, pat it dry with a clean cloth and let it air dry naturally.
To avoid color transfer, keep it away from dark or heavily dyed clothing, and don't overfill the bag, so it keeps its shape.
Clean light dirt with a soft cloth lightly dampened with water, never with harsh detergents, solvents or abrasive tools. For persistent stains, we recommend professional cleaning.
Repairs
Pieces bought on markcross.com carry a two-year warranty. After that, many pieces can still be repaired for a fee, though not every repair is possible. We don't repair vintage pieces.
